Benicia CAC Programs and Services

Information and Referral
The Benicia CAC provides information and referrals to available County services, linkage with other agencies and programs such as the Benicia Housing Authority, Families in Transitions, Social Security and Legal Aid of Northern California.

Rental Assistance

Car Donations
Benicia CAC, in partnership with Solano County, is accepting donations of usable vehicles, which are then given to welfare recipients so that they can maintain their employment.  The cars must be running and able to pass smog testing, and have clear title.  This program  is supported by a grant from US Bank.

Employment Program
The Benicia CAC provides employment counseling, on the job training for youth, placement assistance and resume' development and job posting board for local employment opportunities.

Food Program
The Benicia CAC provides emergency food to clients, administers the USDA surplus food program for Benicia and serves hot meals to seniors.

Counseling
The Benicia CAC offers counseling in financial management, securing benefits, nutrition, job assessment, and family issues.

Transportation
The Benicia CAC provides limited transportation to medical and social service agencies, and employment through para-transit and volunteers.

Locker Room
The Benicia CAC collects clothing donations from the community and distributes useable clothing four days a week through the "Locker Room."  The Benicia CAC assists people needing furniture and appliances that the community donates. 

Homeless Assistance Program
The Benicia CAC us the one-stop shop for Benicia homeless. The Benicia CAC provides housing counseling, food assistance, clothing and services needed to end homelessness.


County Services Available

Cal-Works Program
The Benicia CAC provides in depth case management to move welfare recipients from Welfare to Work through a contract with Solano County.

Senior Services
- The Benicia CAC provides hot nutritious meals to home-bound seniors through the Senior Meal Program.  Volunteers deliver meals five days a week, except holidays.

- The Benicia CAC provides meals for seniors at the Senior Meal Site.  Over 600 meals are supplied on a monthly basis. This is sponsored by Valero Refining California.

- Other services provided to seniors include: emergency transportation to medical appointments, legal referrals, income tax preparation assistance, board and care referrals, home visits, and Senior Santa at Christmas.

Youth Services
The Benicia CAC provides youth programs which include summer youth employment, volunteer opportunities, recreational opportunities such as the Salvation Army summer camp, distributes swim passes for the Benicia pool, and coordinates free dental care for children ages 2 year to 15 years old.

  Holiday Programs
The Benicia CAC focuses on brightening the lives of the less fortunate and to bringing the whole community together during the holidays through:
     Thanksgiving Community Dinner
     Holiday Food Baskets
     Adopt a Family- carefully screened families are adopted by local families, agencies, organizations and businesses for Christmas and are provided with presents and food.
"Benicia Cares for Kids" - new toys and presents are collected for low income children at Christmas

  Administers
The Benicia CAC administers the REACH Program ( a utility assistance program) for Benicia and the Season of Sharing Program for Solano County.
